Are you looking for maximum engine protection and performance for your serpentine belt application? These ATI Super Damper serpentine harmonic balancers contain grooves for serpentine belts machined into the outer damper shell. The dampers come standard with six outer grooves for standard OEM drive systems. Specifically designed for high-rpm engines, they're tuned to eliminate the harmful crankshaft harmonics that cause parasitic horsepower loss. They're tunable in the field, rebuildable, and extremely efficient at all rpm.
ATI Performance 918598 - ATI Standard Harmonic Balancers:
3.200 in. bolt circle pulley mount. Aluminum 3-ring shell weight is 3.60 lbs. Steel hub average weight is 2.4 lbs. Direct bolt-on underdrive for R33, R34, and RB26 engines. Maintains OEM pulley location. Power steering is 15 percent underdrive, requires 10mm shorter belt, alternator and water pump are 5 percent underdrive.
These Super Damper standard harmonic balancers from ATI are specifically designed for high-rpm engines. Their proven elastomer is designed and tuned to eliminate harmful crankshaft harmonics that cause parasitic horsepower loss. They are actually two dampers in one--a 4 in. diameter inner damper and a 6 3/8 in., 7 in., or 8 in. diameter outer damper in two shells that bolt to the crank hub. These dampers are engineered to all but eliminate worn parts and timing problems. They're tunable in the field, rebuildable, and extremely efficient at all rpm.
These dampers are designed to help dampen torsional crankshaft vibrations and will help with the longevity of your race motor. These are mainly beneficial to engines built to rev past the recommended rev limit. Factory OEM dampers are two piece units and are prone to "splitting" apart. In addition, OEM dampers are hardly efficient past 8000 rpms.
For those looking to make power with these units, look elsewhere as these dampers were not designed nor intended for this. In fact, you may LOSE some Horsepower due to the larger overall diamter and increased weight over the factory unit. However, think of this a small insurance on that fully built $5K plus engine. The main difference in cost for this damper vs. competitors (fluidampr) is the fact that ATI builds a custom hub and timing gear to better transfer the vibration into the damper. This is a much improved design over just bolting on a damper to the stock timing gear.
